Ugh. I am about to embark on something completely frightening for a self-employed business owner of an online shop... an Internet-free existence.
Not forever, although it'll probably feel that way... but for at least four to six weeks, as it may take at least that long to get Internet/Phone/Cable at our new residence/studio.
What this means for HaldeCraft orders
Orders will go out on Mondays and Thursdays. If it’s an emergency order (don’t we all sometimes have yarn emergencies?) contact me and we’ll see about special arrangements.
What this means for email
While I will be able to get email, there’s no way I can keep up with it on my phone and not eat my data plan for the month (which runs from the 20th through the 19th, and I’m ashamed to say that as I write this on the 23rd, I’ve already used more than 25% of my data plan for this month already). I am going to scout around next week in my new city for a locally owned coffee shop that has wifi so that I can go there for half an hour a day on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays to check in on messages (Ravelry, Facebook, Google +, and email) and answer them then. It may be different times of the day depending on what else I have to do that day, so while I can’t guarantee a time of day I will do my best to respond to emails and other messages within 24-36 hours.
The above goes for personal email, work email, Ravelry messages, Facebook messages, and answering comments and posts on any of those platforms and also on my blogs. If you're a close personal friend and need to get in touch with me, it may be easiest if you - gasp - call me on my cell phone. I KNOW. Using a phone for ... phone calls?! How antiquated!
What this means for social media
I will post what I can, when I can -- I will have my laptop out at the property so my plan is to write blog posts here and there throughout the week, save them to my hard drive, and upload them to my site when I have access.
Facebook - I will try my best to check in every couple of days, especially if my new local library has wifi and I can get there for about hour every day or two.
Google + - I will try my best to check in every couple of days, especially if my new local library has wifi and I can get there for about hour every day or two.
Instagram - You, Scarecrow, I'm going to miss you most of all. Oh, the hours I could spend scrolling through your ceramics hastag! Oh, the amazing potters I've met and become friends with! I will try to upload a photo a day, but if it starts eating into my phone data plan, I'll have to tone that down.
Pinterest - not a priority at this point, so I probably won't be checking this much at all.
Ravelry - I will try my best to check in every couple of days, especially if my new local library has wifi and I can get there for about hour every day or two.

Lastly, I now this isn't the end of the world. We'll keep Internet on at the Gainesville house as long as we can, I've already heard of two places in Keystone that have free wifi (and I haven't even checked the library yet), and I keep telling myself that not having Internet access for a few weeks might actually be beneficial. I'll have time to unpack, clean, nest, start new projects, maybe even do things like READ BOOKS. Whoa.
But I will miss the daily chatter, and I'll worry that I'll miss an important event in a friend's life, and I'll doubly worry about my customers. But this too shall pass, right? And it'll all come 'round right in the end.
