Works-in-Progress Wednesday

For a while now I've wanted to do something a little interactive. I thought about doing a Google+ hangout, but the times when I'm working during the day are also times when other people are at work. The times that are better for people who might want to watch me work and chat with me about what I'm doing are in the evenings, when I'm pretty much already done for the day.

Then I started thinking about this four-minute video I did about a year ago for This Is Handmade ("if you can’t sit through five minutes of mind-numbingly boring ass handwork, then you don’t get to whine about how much it costs “) and the reaction I got to a four minute video of me crafting was surprisingly wonderful -- so from that sprouted the idea of a new series of blog posts. Once a week I'll take a 2-5 minute video of something that I'm doing/making/working on, and post it on Wednesdays.

This first one is silent, mostly because I didn't know what to say and don't like the sound of my own voice when I hear it on video. But if you have any questions about what I'm doing, feel free to ask them in the comments and I'll address them in my next video (even if that video isn't about the same craft). I plan on doing some on weaving, some on spinning, some on wrapping soap, many more on painting ceramics...

Anyway. Enjoy!

You know, I’m so used to the birds that I didn’t even hear them when I was working. It wasn’t until later when someone (Terry, maybe?) commented on how loud the birds were in the video, and I went back and watched it — that was when I noticed them! Hah. Oh, nature. I’m so used to you I don’t even hear you any more.

SO; i’m watching you clean a Madonna; birds in the background are matching their singing to your movements; or is it the other way around? Thumbs up ; indeed !
