Hinoki Wood is one of those enigmatic fragrances that is hard to pin down. Is it more floral? Because it has notes of lavender, jasmine, rose, and orange blossom. Or is it more musky? Because it also has cedar, patchouli, vanilla musk, and clove. Floral. Woodsy. Earthy. Wonderful! This is a sharp fragrance, and wouldn't be good for people who like lighter scents -- but if you are the spicy sort, this is right up your alley!
The base of this soap has a creamy, custard color to it; but some fragrances - especially those containing vanilla - can cause the soap to darken to a tan or even a dark brown. I try to wait until this begins to happen to photograph the soap so that you are aware of what you are getting; however, it does get darker over time so your soap, upon arrival, may be darker than photographed.
A great gift for that yarn lover in your life, if you don't know what kind of yarn to give them (although here's a hint: yarn lovers just flat out love yarn - all yarn!). Many knitters and crocheters keep these bars in their project bags so that their yarn smells extraordinary.
