This smiling, sitting Hoi Toi (Buddha is typically represented as being thin; the smiling fat Buddha that brings a smile to everyone seeing him is called a Hoi Toi) would be the perfect addition to a collection. He will be glazed and thus hardy in the weather; so would be fine resting outside in your garden.

I learned ceramics like an old-school apprentice, at the feet of my grandmother who had a studio in the 1950s and 1960s, and many of the pieces I make are from now-vintage molds that she bought then. My pieces are unique, hand painted, and proudly made in my own home studio. While the majority of the molds I own are vintage molds purchased new by my grandmother in the late 1950’s/early 1960’s, I did purchase this 1964 Duncan mold in used condition recently. If you are interested in one with a different color robe, contact me for a custom order. Custom orders on ceramics are currently running 4-5 weeks.
