The kind of bowl that your dinner company exclaims over when you pass the rolls down the table. The kind of bowl that catches your eye in the morning light as it sits on the sideboard holding the best fruit of the season. The kind of bowl that you treasure, and hand down through the generations. Slab-rolled and impressed with a hand-crocheted doily, these pieces are then trimmed, cut, and shaped into beautiful one-of-a-kind bowls - each one is subtly different, as they are made by hand. If you, too, love both clay and yarn, this is a piece that will speak to your heart.
This version is different from the original Marie bowl in that I have used a dark chocolate brownish-black clay to make these, and lovely unique glazes that compliment the dark clay or even let it peek through and show the base color.
These bowls were glazed with non-toxic, food-safe glazes, and are dishwasher safe (although I would load them carefully, as jostling in the washer may damage them). As they are hand-built, each one is a little bit different as far as height and weight go, but the approximate dimensions are listed below:
HaldeCraft ceramics begin life as slip-cast, hand-built, or wheel-thrown pieces and then are painted and glazed and put out into the world, all by the hands of one person. I learned ceramics like an old-school apprentice, at the feet of my grandmother who had a studio in the 1950s and 1960s, and many of the pieces I make incorporate now-vintage molds that she bought then. My pieces are unique, hand painted, and proudly made in my own home studio with confidence, mindfulness, and joy.
