Whew! What a whirlwind couple of weeks....! I missed a Wednesday post because I was busy getting ready to go on vacation, then I missed a Wednesday post because I was leaving that day to go on vacation, and then I missed a Wednesday post because I'd just gotten back from vacation and was working furiously! On the other hand, my vacation was fabulous, and I highly recommend somewhat impromptu road trips with friends.
Now, what am I working on? ALL THE THINGS, of course.
In ceramics, I'm throwing a lot of mugs right now. I'm working on Zipper mugs, Police Box mugs, mugs with balls of yarn and either knitting needles or crochet hooks on them... and in my head I'm getting ready for tortoise mugs, frog mugs, and mugs with a needle and thread stamp, to have around August or September... the wave after that, closer to Christmas, will have acorns, pine cones, and one other thing... y'all may need to stage a mug intervention!
I've also been documenting Cetty's raku firings; we'll keep the pieces she has up for sale now up for another three weeks or so, and then replace them with some of her new work (which believe me, is jaw-droppingly amazing).
In soap, I just released the new masculine fragrance, Goblin King, and I'm getting ready to (in about two weeks) release a new floral fragrance, SueAnn's Garden (named for a lovely, wonderful, caring customer/friend - or as we like to call them, "friendstomers").
In yarn, last week Changes hit and then flew off the virtual shelves! I'll be dyeing more next week, and you're welcome to look for the "notify me" button on pages of sold-out yarn bases and leave your email for a one-time notification when I restock towards the end of the week. I'm humbled, y'all - this colorway really means a lot to me and your enthusiastic response to it equals my own. I have at least three more David Bowie-inspired colorways to release, but I'm going to intersperse them with some limited release colorways I also have in mind. I'm going to do a limited colorway next (not Bowie inspired -- those will all be permanent colorways) and you'll start seeing sneak peeks of that in the next few weeks.
In knitting, I'm working on some socks I started while on vacation, some socks I started so long ago I don't remember when I started them, I'm about to start a new pair of boring stockinette socks to knit while watching the next few episodes of Game of Thrones, and...
I've NOT been working on my sky and temperature pillows. Here's the deal... I'm not happy with the temperature side. For the first two pillows I did one strand of DK weight in a color indicating the average of the high and low temp for the day. It looks a lot different than the sky side, which is two strands of sock weight yarn held together to indicate the average of the day (like, two strands of light blue... or a strand of light blue and a strand of white... or a strand of white and light gray.... you get the idea?). And I like that heathered look so much that I look at the more solid block of temperature and just think... "meh". So I think what I'm going to do is start doing the temp side with two strands of sock weight, indicating the high and low temps for the day. It'll be different colors than the sky, but it'll give that heathered look I like. I've still not put the second pillow together, so I think I'm going to leave the first pillow as-is, reknit the temperature side of the second pillow, and go on like that for the rest of the pillows. Yes, that's what I'm going to do. Thanks for letting me talk all that out, heh!
And that's me... that's what's going on in my head and with my hands this week. What about y'all? What are you working on?
