Works-in-Progress Wednesday (08/20/14)
What are you working on this week? In ceramics, I'm glazing my little fingers off. There's so much I want to glaze, fire, and see that it's almost ridiculous. Why can't I have four arms? And twice - no, three times the space in which to work? Sigh. And hopefully the afternoon rains will hold off for another couple of hours, so that I can get some product photography done. I can't wait to show off these plant stakes! In soap, I'm working up a new fragrance for a customer, sort of a signature scent. It may show up in the shop as a regular fragrance (which is why I mention it) but it's somewhat similar to something I already have... so it also might just replace what I already have. My customers have good taste (and good noses!) so rest assured that if she likes it, so will you. I'm also pouring some new soaps from a handful of sample scents I ordered the other week. I debated how to offer them, and finally decided that I'll make them in the Yarn and Knitting Needle design, in order to take them with me to the Florida Fiber-In next month (I'll put them up on the site as well, in case anyone is interested in trying the new fragrances). In yarn, I have not one but TWO new spinning fibers on order. They've actually been on order for a while, because my plan was to get them both dyed up and take them to Fiber-In... but shipping seems to be taking longer than expected. I can't deny that I'm a little worried they won't get here with enough time for me to get them all dyed... which is why I'm holding back on the two new base yarns that I already have dyed, in case those need to be my Fiber-In special. Stay tuned....! And in knitting, I'm working on ALL THE THINGS. Five pairs of socks, a baby blanket, and a pullover that hasn't seen the light of day in a while (which is silly because I'm almost done with it). And in walking, my FitBit tells me that over the weekend I gained my 250 mile badge, for how far I've walked since I got it. That's quite an accomplishment for someone who feels like a slug -- I practically have to kick my own self out the door in the morning to make myself go for a walk! Anyway... that's my week. What about you? Do tell!
