February 2018 Yarn Club: Sunflowers

Welcome to the 2nd installment of the Winter 2018 Yarn Club - which I actually put into the mail about four weeks ago, but you know how I like to make sure nobody gets spoiled... so I put up the posts a month later.

The theme this time around is inspired by Vincent van Gogh, and you just know with how much I love flowers that Sunflowers would be in this lineup somewhere. Let's do it! It was hard to choose just one of his sunflower paintings, so we're going with shades of yellow... sort of like how he did his paintings, which you can read about here. As that link says, "Vincent painted a total of five large canvases with sunflowers in a vase, with three shades of yellow 'and nothing else'. In this way, he demonstrated that it was possible to create an image with numerous variations of a single colour without any loss of eloquence."

If you chose sock weight, the yarn is Andre; an 80% Superwash Merino/20% Nylon yarn that gets 6-8 stitches per inch on a US 0-2 and comes in 400-yard, 100-gram put-ups.

If you chose worsted weight, the yarn is Tepper; a 100% Superwash Merino yarn that gets 4-5 stitches per inch on a US 6-9 and comes in 218-yard, 100-gram put-ups.

Feel free to post photos here on the Ravelry spoiler thread, or tag @haldecraft on your Instagram pictures.

Thanks, y'all!
