WiP Wed (01/13/21)

You know, at this point, I almost expect to be knocked off course every time I sit down to write something. It’s just been that kind of a ten or twelve months… I’m sure you know what I mean. You start to focus on one thing, thinking “I can let my eyes off the world for this two minutes, to get this thing done” and then BAM there’s a plague, or another innocent man getting shot for being out jogging, or an armed insurrection or something. It makes it really hard to concentrate. It’s like… do you like to fly? I like to look at the tops of clouds but I hate flying. I can’t really nap or read or do anything that takes focus, because I’m too busy keeping the plane in the air with the power of my mind. It’s like that. I’m finding it hard to focus on writing, even just a blog post, or coming up with new creative ideas, because I’m busy holding the world together with the power of my mind. Ugh, it’s tiring! I’ve finally jumped on the coloring book bandwagon in the last couple of weeks, because it’s creative, but I don’t have to be the one who decides anything. The lines are all there already. All I have to do is pick a color, and that’s about all my brain can handle, haha. OK, it’s not THAT bad, I mean, I am getting some work done - here, let me tell you about it.

In ceramics, there’s a lot of handbuilding going on in the studio right now. I’m playing around with a couple of pieces that will maybe be for Patrons over on Patreon, if they work out (the pieces, not the people). I’m also working on starting some mugs for the local coffee shop… more on those in another post, as the details on those fill out. And I’m getting decals on some mugs, so I should have a few decal restocks by the end of the week.

In soap, I’m definitely making some soap changes (see last week’s WiP Wed most for more info, and I’ll have a post just about soap over the weekend, or next week). This week saw the last big update of soap as you know it. Starting next week I’ll be making new bars, so there won’t be a restock next week, but the week after that new bars will start making their way into the shop.

In yarn, I’m getting ready to send out the Patreon yarn — I just need to find time to write a blog post about it, first!

In Seasonal Collections, I’m starting to take a look at what ideas I might want for the next Under the Sea crate, and will be making prototype pieces over the next couple of weeks. If I can get it narrowed down soon, I’ll release them in mid-March.

In Patreon, I’m going to try to have a bonus chapter up this weekend, but I might wind up switching it to next weekend instead. Ugh. So much for feeling caught up, finally?

In the HaldeCult group over on Facebook, we are having a lot of really fun discussions! If you are a yarnie who misses the conversation on Ravelry, or if you’re not a yarnie and want to talk about things that aren’t yarn, head over to Facebook and find the HaldeCult. Everyone over there is hilarious and brilliant!

That’s really kind of all I have to say right now… I got started on this blog post much, much later than I intended, which means I’ve been writing it for about six hours now, a line or two at a time as I can fit it in between other things. That’s what I get for not writing it first thing in the morning, like I’d planned!

And what about you? How’s your week going? Are you also suffering from the Easily Distracteds? What are you working on? Or what would you be working on if you had the brain power?
