Works in Progress Wednesday (07/06/16)

What are y'all working on this short week? It feels like Tuesday to me, but then yesterday felt like Monday... and I felt like I had two Saturdays this week!

ANYWAY! Here's what I've got cooking this week...

In ceramics, I'm working on some new things to bring with me in August to the Big Bang Bazaar (y'all, I'm so excited about this show I just can't even! It's like a science fiction convention and a craft show had a baby, and you know that kind of baby is right up in my wheelhouse!). I'm also working on redesigning a few ceramics for my online shop - I hope to have new Marie mugs and tumblers this week or next.

In soap, I'm gearing up for a big soap-making week at the end of this month... I'll be restocking anything that's sold out, making a new fragrance to bring in soon, and even though Fiber-In isn't until September, as this is my only soap-making week scheduled until after Fiber-In, I'll be making some yarn and knitting needle soaps to bring to that with me.

In yarn, I'm getting ready to release Cranberry Butter next week, as I'm over the moon happy with it. Next week I'll also be dyeing yarn; mostly test-dyeing a few things to play around with future colors. I love playtime!

Knitting is taking kind of a back seat to spinning right now, while the Tour de France/Fleece is on. "When they spin, we spin!" My overarching goal is to get back into the habit of spending time on the wheel every day, and as such my daily goal during the tour is to spin two ounces a day. That might not sound like much, but my goal is consistency, not quantity. Also, I've already pulled a muscle or given myself tennis elbow or something, when I plied four bobbins a few days before the tour started in order to clean them off... so I don't want to overextend myself tooooo much.

In other stuff... have I mentioned the kiln shed? It's a glorified pole barn, underneath which will live the outdoor kilns (the wood-fired kiln, which still needs to be rebuilt, the electric raku kiln, and eventually a small gas kiln). Tim's been working on it on the weekends for about a month now, and while we were hoping to get it finished before the Open House on the 16th, that doesn't look like it's going to happen. Seriously, the work that Tim's putting into the details of this thing are amazing. I can't wait to be able to show it off!

Anyway, that's me for the week... how about y'all? What are you up to?
